Description

I started this project in August 2010. Initially, the idea was to create a cute box that you could keep all your favorite little objects in. As part of the decoration, the house would have a small display covering it's top surface. The display would contain a living bonsai tree along with a miniature house and a functional miniature well. However, watering the plants and keeping them alive without corroding the box or the decorations that would go on it seemed a little too difficult and tedious. Hence the decision to have it be completely artificial. Also, the fact that it's so difficult to create or find small artificial grass led me to use artificial snow instead. Yes, it will be winter-themed. As for the miniature house, I had originally intended for it to be closed on all sides and empty on the inside. However, as I was working on the structure of the house, I decided to make it more a doll-house sort of thing instead (meaning that you could see the interior.) So now, the back side of the house is missing and the interior of the house is furnished.

...

Well, to make a long story short, you can keep track of my progress here. (:

The House

The base of the house. Cardboard and glue gun -- sturdier than you think.

Building the Box

Before building the box, I made some sketches, blueprints and cut-out plans. Using those, I created the following 3D model on Animation:Master to get a general idea of how it would look.

So, I probably should have taken a picture of the wood before sanding it and assembling it and all. However, I didn't know I was going to document it when I first started.
